"You Thought It Was Just a Chair?" — A Three-Day Design Event in Belgrade
In the second half of September, Freya Architects, the Polish furniture brand Artu, and the Serbian furniture company NITEA held a three-day exhibition titled “You Thought It Was Just a Chair?” in Belgrade.
The event took place at the N.EON Gallery, with its main theme focused on showcasing how a new design project is born — from the first idea to the final product. The central installation, extending through all the halls of the gallery, illustrated each stage of furniture production, allowing visitors to follow the creative and technical journey step by step.
In addition to the main exhibition, a special artistic installation titled “Cemetery of Genius Ideas” was presented in a cave space adjoining the gallery, symbolically reflecting the process of creation and the ideas left behind along the way.
The program also included an educational component featuring a lecture by German product designer Moritz Putzier, who spoke about the philosophy and creative approach of his studio Studio Moritz Putzier. His presentation offered valuable insights into how craftsmanship, technology, and emotion intertwine in contemporary product design.
The event concluded with a Design Talk featuring: Kristina Koivistoinen-Khatlamadzhiian, Freya Architects (Serbia), Moritz Putzier, Studio Moritz Putzier (Germany), Zoran Jedrejčić, Zoran Jedrejčić Design Studio (Croatia)
The discussion was moderated by Kosara Dangic and offered meaningful reflections on design processes, professional development, and the importance of collaboration in the creative industry.
